My family and I spent a glorious week in Gran Canaria basking in the Spring sunshine
Nestled in the hills and the cliff tops, lies a four star palace fit for a king. The Gloria Palace is situated between the lively resort of Puerto Rico and the quieter area of Amadores with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel boasts two outdoor swimming pools, health and wellness centre, animation club, tennis courts, five star quality service and excellent food. With an all-inclusive package cash never needs to change hands. Complimentary refreshments are offered on arrival at reception, and the spacious lobby area boasts a boutique, a pharmacy and a piano bar.
Balconies with a sea view
The spacious Thalasso double rooms comfortably accommodated three people, ours even had a very welcome seating area. Sliding doors open to the view of an infinity pool with the blue sea beyond. Many evenings were spent sitting on the balcony admiring the spectacular scenery. There was tea/coffee making facilities in the room, free Wi-Fi and daily maid service.
An excellent dining experience buffet style
As the sun began to set over the ocean, we dined al fresco a couple of evenings in the large hotel restaurant. Speciality dishes from all around the world, such as Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, and France and of course the Canaries. My favourite dish was rabbit stew with wrinkly potatoes and mojo sauce. Lunch was just as extravagant but on a smaller scale. On the last night, the theme was the Canaries, and three amigos entertained the diners with their singing and guitar playing. Our all-inclusive package allowed us to dine at breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as the pool side snack bar.

Thalasso treatments & activities
In the health and wellbeing part of the hotel, there was a get in shape pool, with 29 hydro-massage stations heated at different temperatures. Water jets massage your shoulders, thighs, and your whole body while you swim and relax in the pool. In this area there is a cool-water and hot-water pool with a relaxation area to unwind. For the more energetic guests the Gloria Palace has a fully equipped gym with access to the Sauna and Turkish baths. An activity is organised every day such as yoga, aqua aerobics, scuba diving and spin classes in the swimming pool. For the younger ones there is a kid’s animation club with tennis courts, arts and crafts and playground that aim to educate and inspire all, and the Games Room is open in the evening while the shows are on.
Nightly Entertainment
Music, dancing and singing was part of the nightly entertainment in Bar Salon. Spanish dancers performed the Flamenco in their extravagant outfits. Acrobatic gymnasts had the audience on the edge of their seats with their hair-raising acts. Pole dancers hung upside down doing the splits while twirling around the pole to the music. The bands had everyone up on the dance floor moving and grooving to the beat. The live entertainment was excellent and we finished off the night on a high note.

Paseo
The Paseo bar is positioned just as you exit the hotel and it serves cakes, coffees and snacks. We walked the promenade to Puerto Rico playa most days, a lively resort with plenty of shops and restaurants. The quiet but attractive beach of Amadores is approximately 700 yards away from the hotel. The average daily temperature was 23 degrees, which made it very pleasant to swim and sunbathe.
A top class hotel, excellent customer service, delicious food, why go anywhere else, Gloria Palace Thalasso Amadores has it all.
