We arrived late in the evening to our accommodation Mogan Playa Solaz, these apartments are part of the Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel, and we could use all the facilities the hotel has to offer. Upon checking in, the receptionist suggested we go straight to the restaurant as it was closing in 20 minutes. After eating in the lovely restaurant, we went on to our apartment. It was equipped with a couch bed upstairs, connecting to a small kitchen area and downstairs were two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We had the luxury of a personal hot tub, but if one wanted to socialise outside the apartment, there were plenty of sunbeds with another hot tub in the communal area.

The following morning, we listened to the sweet sounds of the local canary birds on our way to breakfast. Each work station had a chef serving up hot cooked foods such as chorizo, frittata, tomatoes, bacon, sausages etc. But if you wanted to go for something simple, pastries and breads were available too. In the evening time, our dinner was included in the half board deal, so we helped ourselves to savoury fish, meats, vegetables, pastas and pizzas. A chocolate fountain display was provided where kids old and young could dip their strawberries, jellies or sweets into it.

Shopping

Across the road was a huge supermarket where my family and I stocked up on water and snacks for teas and coffees during the day. Also a few boutiques were situated beside the Hyper Dino, selling the latest brand names such as Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, and Nike. Along the promenade towards the beach, there is a selection of shops and pharmacies, but if you want to expand on your shopping experience, I recommend Mogan Mall, in Puerto Rico.

Day & Evening Entertainment

The Cordial boasts a fantastic swimming pool, a bowling alley, tennis courts, a football pitch and a kids club. Throughout the day there is aqua aerobics and many other activities to keep old and young occupied.

Every evening in the hotel, there is a show, many performers took part, from singers playing Tina Turner music to acrobats tumbling to Michael Jackson songs. On the last day we saw the Lion King, where the staff sang and danced to this popular show and much to the excitement of the younger kids, they were allowed get their photos taken with the cast.

If you want to travel further afield, Maspalomas is just a short taxi ride away, and it has a lovely promenade with shops and restaurants all along the walkway. After some shopping we stopped off at a lovely eatery to tuck into fish and chips. I would not recommend swimming in the sea here as it can be quite rough but Mogan is perfect for swimming.
